How to Dispatch a Job

When to use this guide

Use this guide to assign a job to the correct employees using the Schedule and the dispatching tools in DOP.

Prerequisites

  • Job must already exist in the system.
  • The employee must be active and available on that date.
  • Job should not be marked as completed.

Step-by-step

Step 1 — Open the Schedule

  1. Go to Schedule in the sidebar.
  2. Confirm you are viewing the correct:
    • Date
    • View mode (Day / Week)

Step 2 — Locate the Job

You can find unassigned jobs in the:

  • Unassigned list on the left, or
  • Jobs tab inside the Schedule

Jobs are color-coded by priority.

Step 3 — Assign the Job

There are two ways:

Option A — Drag & Drop

  1. Click and hold the job card.
  2. Drag it to the employee column.
  3. Drop it at the correct time slot.

Option B — Auto-Dispatch Panel

  1. Click the job card.
  2. Open Dispatch Options.
  3. DOP will show:
    • Available employees
    • Distance from previous job
    • Travel time
    • Conflicts or overlap
  4. Select the best employee and confirm.

Step 4 — Confirm Assignment

After dispatching:

  • The job card will appear under the employee’s column.
  • The technician will see the job on their mobile app.

Common mistakes

❌ “Employee does not appear in the Schedule”

  • Employee may not have working hours set.
  • They may be inactive or assigned to a different department.

❌ “Employee can’t see the job in the app”

  • Ensure the job is assigned, not just saved.
  • Check if the employee is logged into the correct company.

❌ Jobs overlapping

  • Check the conflict warnings before dispatching.
