How to Adjust Hours Before Payroll
When to use this guide
Use this guide to correct time entries before generating payroll — every business needs this step.
Prerequisites
- Payroll must be in draft mode.
- Jobs should be completed.
Step-by-step
Step 1 — Open Payroll
- Go to Payroll.
- Select the payroll period you are reviewing.
Step 2 — Select an Employee
Open an employee row to view:
- Hours worked
- Job list
- Overtime
- Drive time
- Tips
Step 3 — Adjust Hours
You can edit:
- Start/End time
- Total hours
- Overtime
- Drive time
- Tips
- Bonuses or deductions
Step 4 — Save Adjustments
Click Save to lock in the corrected values.
Common mistakes
❌ “I adjusted hours but payroll did not update”
- Payroll must be refreshed after changes.
- Ensure you clicked Save.
❌ Drive time missing
- Employee does not have “Uses own car” enabled.
❌ Job not counted in hours
- Job may not be marked completed.
