How to Adjust Hours Before Payroll

When to use this guide

Use this guide to correct time entries before generating payroll — every business needs this step.

Prerequisites

  • Payroll must be in draft mode.
  • Jobs should be completed.

Step-by-step

Step 1 — Open Payroll

  1. Go to Payroll.
  2. Select the payroll period you are reviewing.

Step 2 — Select an Employee

Open an employee row to view:

  • Hours worked
  • Job list
  • Overtime
  • Drive time
  • Tips

Step 3 — Adjust Hours

You can edit:

  • Start/End time
  • Total hours
  • Overtime
  • Drive time
  • Tips
  • Bonuses or deductions

Step 4 — Save Adjustments

Click Save to lock in the corrected values.


Common mistakes

❌ “I adjusted hours but payroll did not update”

  • Payroll must be refreshed after changes.
  • Ensure you clicked Save.

❌ Drive time missing

  • Employee does not have “Uses own car” enabled.

❌ Job not counted in hours

  • Job may not be marked completed.
